Thank you for using Prompt Helper for Google Gemini (the "Extension"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our Extension.

This Extension is designed with user privacy as a priority. Its core function relies on interacting with the Google Generative Language API using your API key, stored locally on your device.

2. Information We Handle

To provide its core functionality, the Extension handles the following information solely on your local device and for direct communication with Google's API:

• Google AI API Key: You provide your API key from Google AI Studio (or Google Cloud) to enable the Extension to make requests to the Google Generative Language API on your behalf. This key is stored exclusively locally on your computer using Chrome's secure chrome.storage.local API. We do not have access to, collect, or store your API key on any remote servers.
• Input Prompts: The text prompts you enter into the Extension's input field.
• Improved Prompts: The enhanced prompt suggestions received back from the Google Generative Language API.

We do not collect any personal information automatically. We do not track your browsing activity across other websites. We do not collect analytics data about your usage unless explicitly stated otherwise in a future version (in which case this policy would be updated, and consent might be required).

3. How We Use Information

The information handled by the Extension is used exclusively for the following purposes:

• Storing Your API Key: To securely save your Google AI API key within your browser's local storage so you don't have to re-enter it each time.
• Facilitating API Calls: To send your Input Prompt, along with your locally stored API Key, directly to the Google Generative Language API (generativelanguage.googleapis.com) endpoint.
• Displaying Results: To receive the Improved Prompt from the Google API and display it back to you within the Extension's interface.

Your API key and prompt data are NOT transmitted to us or any third party servers, except for the necessary direct transmission to Google's Generative Language API endpoint over a secure HTTPS connection.

4. Data Storage and Security

• API Key Storage: Your Google AI API Key is stored using chrome.storage.local. This means the key remains on your computer within the browser's designated storage area for the Extension and is not typically synced across devices using Chrome Sync unless you have explicitly enabled extension syncing with encryption in your browser settings (behavior determined by Chrome).
• Transmission Security: Communication between the Extension and the Google Generative Language API occurs over HTTPS, encrypting the data in transit.
• Disclaimer: While we use standard security practices (local storage, HTTPS), please be aware that no method of electronic storage or transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your API Key or prompt data with any third parties, with the sole exception of the direct interaction with the Google Generative Language API as described in Section 3.

Your interactions with the Google Generative Language API are subject to Google's own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. We encourage you to review Google's policies:

6. User Choices and Control

• API Key Management: You can edit or remove your saved API key at any time through the Extension's interface.
• Uninstalling: You can uninstall the Extension at any time through your Chrome browser's extension management page. Uninstalling the Extension will remove the locally stored API key and all associated data stored by the Extension via chrome.storage.local.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the Extension interface or by updating the effective date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
